Farmlands - 2018 Board of Directors Election

2018 Board of Directors Election

As a co-operative, Farmlands values the input of its shareholders and the Director election presents the ideal opportunity for you to have your say.

Following the Society’s rules, the board has confirmed that a Director election will take place in each of the North Island and the South Island.

Three current Directors, David Jensen (North Island) and Joe Ferraby (South Island) and Rob Hewett (South Island), will retire. Rob Hewett has advised he is available for re-election. David Jensen and Joe Ferraby have taken this opportunity to retire from the Board, after 6 and 20 years of service respectively.

Under the rules of the Society, if you wish to nominate a candidate for the Director election in your island, you must provide notice of your nomination in writing. Nominations must be received at 535 Wairakei Road, Burnside, Christchurch 8053 no later than 5.00pm on Thursday 13 September 2018. Elections will only take place for each island if the number of nominations received for that island are greater than the number of vacancies.

Nominations must be in writing, signed by two shareholders, and must contain written confirmation by the nominee of his or her willingness to be elected. Any nominee must be a shareholder of Farmlands and must have been a transacting member of Farmlands for at least three years prior to the date of the nomination.

Should an election and vote be necessary, only those living in the island where an election is required are entitled to vote. Appropriate voting papers will be sent out shortly after the closing date for nominations and a voting process will follow. You will be provided with details of that process should that be necessary.

Candidates standing, including current Directors retiring and available for re-election, will be required to be part of an independent assessment process, the results of which will be circulated with the voting papers.

Please feel free to phone the Company Secretary, Catherine Walker, on freephone 0800 200 600 or DDI (03) 357 7995, with any query, or discuss it with any Director of the Society.
