Blue September 2019

Blue September – what is it?

Blue September is the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s annual national awareness and fundraising campaign.

More than 600 Kiwi men will die this year from the disease (out of 3,000 diagnosed) - that's a heck of a lot of mates, fathers, brothers, grandfathers. If you haven’t been directly affected by prostate cancer, you’re bound to know someone who has.

Every little bit helps to provide support, campaign for greater awareness, conduct research, and advocate for better diagnosis and treatment outcomes.

Checklist

Usually early detection of prostate cancer leads to better outcomes. It's important that men don’t wait for symptoms to occur as many of those who are diagnosed don’t show any signs at first.

It is also a hereditary disease. Your local GP can do a checking and screening test. Many men get this done as part of a general Warrant of Fitness check at their doctor's once a year.
