The horticulture sector is just too exciting not to be a part of, and Farmlands is a key link with growers and the land. With over 45 years of experience in horticulture, Ian has grown a wide range of crops including tobacco, berryfruit and kiwifruit, and went on to specialise in high-density pipfruit production in the Motueka area. After selling his orchard business and taking some well-earned time out, Ian was drawn back by the opportunity to work alongside growers to help lift yields and profitability. The co-operative model and Farmlands’ connection to the land made it the perfect place to continue that mission. Ian now works with growers across the Tasman, Waimea and Tapawera regions. Outside of work, Ian and Tarmra enjoy their classic cars, travelling and spending time with their grandchildren.
