Quintin's horticultural journey started with a small farm in Te Horo in the North Island of New Zealand, where he filled in the hours after school with farm work. He completed high school in his home country of South Africa, where he helped his brother develop a hydroponic cucumber operation on the 600-hectare property. Wanting to learn more about horticulture, Quintin returned to New Zealand to study a Bachelor of Agriscience, majoring in Horticulture, at Massey University in 2015. This led to a diverse career spanning industrial hemp research, kiwifruit orchard management, landscape gardening, garden centre management, and technical advisory positions.
Quintin moved to Canterbury in 2023, where he has focused on apples, blackcurrants, and vegetable production. He recently joined Farmlands after working as a Technical Horticultural Representative for two years.
Quintin placed in the Young Grower of the Year awards for Bay of Plenty in 2021 and was awarded the RYLA Leadership Award in 2026. His philosophy is: "I'm here to help my growers achieve better outcomes for their businesses."
