LETTING US KNOW SOMEONE HAS DIED

Coping with the death of someone close to you and sorting out their financial affairs can be difficult.  We’re here to help guide you through what you need to do with a Farmlands Account that belongs to someone who has died.

You can let us know by completing our online form or calling us on 0800 200 600. You can also email us at ask@farmlands.co.nz.

There are many different types of shareholding accounts, and we’ll help you to understand the type of account the shareholder had, and what options are available. Then we’ll work through the process with you and let you know exactly what documents we will need and who has the authority to make the necessary changes.

What we'll do next...

  • Once you’ve told us about the death, we’ll stop any further communications to the account holder. It takes a little time to arrange this, so you might receive statements addressed to them in the meantime. We’re sorry for any distress that this may cause.

  • We'll protect any accounts that are in the deceased person's name.

  • Within ten working days, we’ll be in touch to let you know what information and documents we’ll need and discuss what options are available regarding whether you wish to keep the account open, opening a new account, transferring shares or closing the account.
