Notice of 2024 Farmlands Directors Election

Nominations are open for two Shareholder Director positions. 

Farmlands understands how important the voices of our shareholders are in governing the co-operative.  Electing Shareholder Directors to our Board is how we make sure these voices are heard and acted on. 

As per the Society’s rules, the Board would like to call for nominations for two Shareholder Directors for Farmlands Co-operative Society Limited. 

Having completed their second three-year terms on the Board, Gray Baldwin and Dawn Sangster are required to retire at the 2024 AGM unless re-elected. Both Gray and Dawn intend to stand again for re-election this year.

As per the 2022 changes to our process, Farmlands no longer holds separate elections for the North and South Island. 

Farmlands has engaged electionz.com to carry out the Returning Officer role and election administration for this year's election process. 

Under the rules of the Society, if you wish to nominate a candidate for the 2024 Director Election, you must provide notice of your nomination in writing. Nominations must be received at the offices of electionz.com no later than 12.00 midday on Friday 26 April 2024. Elections will only take place if more nominations are received than there are available vacancies. 

We can provide you with more details about this process, if it becomes necessary. 

Candidates standing, including current Directors retiring and available for re-election, will take part in an independent assessment process, and the results of this will be circulated with the voting papers. These assessments are scheduled to take place on the 1st and 2nd of May at Propero, Level 2, Kauri Timber Building, 29 Graham Street, Victoria Quarter, Auckland City 1010, or can be completed remotely via video conferencing.

Nominations must be in writing, signed by two transacting shareholders and must contain written confirmation by the nominee of their willingness to be elected. All nominees must have been a transacting member of Farmlands for at least three years prior to the date of nomination.
