Upfront and ongoing costs

Know before you apply

Becoming a shareholder means buying 500 shares at $1 each — making you a part-owner of the co-op. That’s not a fee, it’s an investment.

  • Shareholding (one-off) - $500 -pay in full or across four instalments
  • Annual Account Fee - $72 + GST per Card, per year
  • Additional Cardholders - Prorated portion of the Annual Account Fee.

Your shares are redeemable if you leave the co-op and meet the share surrender rules.

Once a share surrender application is accepted, it can take up to five years for your share capital to be returned, in line with co-operative rules — helping Farmlands continue investing in competitive pricing and long-term support for rural New Zealand.

There is a credit-limit on the Card and you will be required to pay off your Account in full each month.

What you need ready

Before you start your Farmlands shareholder application, you’ll need to get a few things ready first. It takes about 30 minutes — not a two-minute job, but a one-time process that unlocks lasting value.

To meet Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, we need to verify a few key things like your photo ID and proof of address, so we can confirm who we're working with and where funds are coming from. It also means you'll be part of something bigger: a co-op that backs rural New Zealand.

  • Photo ID (Current New Zealand Driver’s Licence or Passport)
  • Proof of address (utility provider, bank or government department)
  • Financial information
  • Relevant contact details for applicants, Directors, shareholders (over 25% holding) and Card-holders on the application.
